My students need supplies for multiple STEM activities, such as rocket balloons, baggies and gloves.

My Students

Have you had the chance to make ice cream in a bag or grow a plant in a terrarium? I would like to provide those opportunities for my students in my classroom while meeting the standards I am required to teach in science and math.

My students go to school at a Title I school and are some of the sweetest and most curious kids out there.

They love learning and many of them are learning English at school as their second language. All of them love chances for hands-on activities and learning.

My Project

With these supplies, I will have materials to help my students make and investigate a terrarium. They will get a chance to see how plants grow and the soil and water requirements for these seeds to sprout. We are also getting supplies for the students to be able to investigate the temperature of water with scientific probes and see what salt can do to the freezing temperature of water. I plan to use the bags and gloves to have them apply that science to making ice cream in a bag. Lastly, I am requesting supplies to investigate evidence that air is a substance with air pumps and rocket balloons. They will apply measurement knowledge from math with the science topic of air and weather that we study in my class.

This will make my classroom a better learning environment because they will be able to measure and see the things we discuss in science on their own.

I am working on a STEM endorsement for my teaching right now and this will be a chance for the kids to question and create their own learning experience in a way as I direct and guide them. It will help make them more scientific thinkers and provide a chance for them to love learning and school even more with these authentic experiences.
