Help me give my students a relevant STEM experience each day in our Science instruction by bringing a complete set of Learning Activity Tubs into our second grade classroom.
I teach 14 to 15 seven and eight year old students. Most have returned to our second grade classroom with limited educational experiences outside of their homes. Each of my students possesses their own unique outlook on school. All are eager to share their dreams and aspirations with others.
My students enter our classroom with boundless imagination but limited opportunity to show it.
They may not have materials at home to use to express and expand their imaginations. Being able to use materials to build and show what they know and are thinking about motivates them to take risks and learn more about the world around them. These materials will help my students to be able to create models of what they are thinking about now and in their future!
My Project
My second grade students are bright, creative and capable individuals. Most live at or below the poverty level. Although my school works tirelessly to provide the resources they need, STEM/Science materials are often in short supply.
I believe that each of my students should have the opportunity to show what they know, can learn , and share about the world around them.
My students do not have access to the materials needed to make science come alive for them. Social distancing and inability to share has made this even more difficult.
They are in need of materials that can be used for individual STEM bins as well as for whole class instruction. This will enable them to build different projects and design investigations to answer questions they have about the world around them.
