**STEM Science**

My Students

My students are very eager to learn. Every day my students come to class with questions about our unit, always diving deeper into what we are learning. They are very inquisitive and love to do hands-on learning activities that bring science to life!

I teach over 100 8th grade Earth Science students and 50 Space Exploration students.

My students range in ability level, but are all very eager learners. My school is located in rural central Virginia. All of the teachers strive for better personalized learning that can enhance STEM education.

My Project

With the bluetooth UE Mini Boom speaker, my students will be able to listen to videos with surround sound. They will be able to dive into the film and really capture the experience. The Veho Discovery microscope hooks right into their chromebooks and will allow the students to take a closer look at rocks and minerals (fractures, grain structure, etc). They can even see the fibers of their shirts! This will help to teach the students crystalline structure, fractures vs folds, etc. The quadcopter will be used by my STEM enhanced space exploration class to model the sky crane used during the Mars Curiosity mission. My students are planning mock missions to Mars with help from real NASA representatives. This hands-on quad-copter will give them the same experience and testing materials used by the actual scientists for the mission.

My students will greatly benefit from these materials.

Many of my students have never used a microscope. Even more have yet to view and listen to a science documentary by David Attenborough. My space exploration students will be able to have hands-on testing materials to reenact the actual Mars Curiosity sky crane and rover systems. My students will be able to experience hands-on science on a whole new level with the materials that you provide for them.
