Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When do you connect most with your learning? Our students come excited to engage in learning. Being in a low-income area, our students do not have accessibility to the same opportunities as other schools. When given culturally responsive labs, the students are engaged and focused. It is clear they are excited to take control of their learning, but integration needs to be meaningful.

Our students are eager to try new things and bring their learning to life.

They want to express what they know in a variety of ways. As we give our students connections to their lives, we are opening a variety of doors. The supplies in this project will connect students to different STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Tissue paper will be used for art projects connected to science. LEGOs and LEGO boards will help engage students in learning by building projects connected to reading and math. Pipe cleaners will help students tap into their creativity. Straws will be used for students to make rockets. By being explicit about STEAM opportunities early on, more students will be likely to be successful in STEM fields.
