Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students at Title I schools are notoriously underexposed to enriching STEM activities. Our goal is to build an elective that allows students to explore hands-on engineering and technology activities. Through exploring building and designing challenges students will get more exposure to careers and learning they would otherwise not see.

With supplies such as Perfect Stix, and Rubber Band Propeller Car Kits, students will explore what shapes make the strongest bridge, and how to build a simple pneumatic machine.

Other activities include building different cars and comparing how they perform, looking at how tension impacts the distance a catapult throws, and attending a STEM conference at the end of the class!
