My Project

My students love building and creating things. In a world where children are often obsessed with technology and don't seem to have much of an attention span, I strive to provide a lot of opportunity for hands-on learning and discovery. I love watching students interact with other children to build creations, make up new games, and use their imaginations.

My goal this year is to grow my classroom collection of STEM resources for students to use during indoor recess, earned incentives, and even certain lessons in math and science.

One specific lesson I will use the magnetic building sticks for is a math measurement, perimeter, and area lesson. Students will work in groups to build shapes and then measure their sides to find the perimeter and area. The magnetic building sticks and tiles, hedgehog block tiles, storage bins to store the materials, and other STEM resources will provide my students with new opportunities to learn and grow.
