This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I funded, public kindergarten in Southern California. About 2/3 of my students are English language learners. At our school, we strive to help students become leaders who value quality education and embrace their roles as contributing members of our diverse community. My students are amazing, and your contributions will make a huge impact on them every day! Thank you.
My Project
I am requesting your help to bring STEM and SEL hands-on materials into my classroom. The best thing about teaching TK/Kinder is that my students LOVE to learn! They also naturally have the most beautiful imaginations. To encourage these amazing learning mindsets I plan to use my STEM center space to incorporate social-emotional experiences for my students. By bringing "people" into our STEM centers my students will not only be engineers working to solve problems, build bridges and cities, they will also be creating homes, and towns with people and families. And surely those people will face conflicts with other people in their town/homes (those imaginations are spectacular!). By providing the right materials my students will get the chance to work together and use those wonderful imaginations to navigate some of their more complicated feelings. Thank you for considering supporting my classroom!
