STEM Meets Ice Cream: Exploring Science with the Ninja Creami!

My Project

Who knew learning about states of matter, mixtures, and chemical changes could be so delicious? My students are curious, energetic, and always eager to learn through hands-on activities. I want to bring science to life — and to their taste buds — with the Ninja Creami machine!

With the Ninja Creami, we can explore the scientific principles behind freezing, emulsification, and food chemistry.

Students will design their own recipes, test ingredient ratios, and analyze how temperature and time affect the texture and outcome of different frozen treats. It’s a perfect way to connect real-world applications to classroom science!

This isn't just about making yummy treats. It's about making science tangible, memorable, and fun. Whether we're investigating physical vs. chemical changes or learning how freezing points are manipulated by solutes, the Creami provides a creative, edible entry point into complex scientific concepts.

My students are bright and enthusiastic 2nd graders who thrive when they can learn by doing. They love science labs and problem-solving activities — especially when they can see (and taste!) the results. Many come from low-income backgrounds, and projects like this provide experiences they might not otherwise have access to.
