Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district provides many challenges. The students in my classroom come from very diverse backgrounds but they have one thing in common...their thirst for learning in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. They desire an environment that provides ample opportunities for active learning to take place while they are challenged and explore through the use of hands-on activities.
We provide rigorous instruction that enables our children to achieve academic excellence while building the social and emotional skills needed to become well-rounded individuals.
My goal is to offer my students experiences that they would not ordinarily be exposed to. I strive to provide them with hands-on materials that will inspire them to interact, investigate and explore. They love books, technology, and manipulating the environment through their senses. Together we make learning fun and successful.
My Project
Early learners are naturally curious and explore to know the how and why something happens. I want to provide materials for my students to explore and enhance their critical thinking skills.
I strive to provide resources that will help my students develop problem solving skills as they interact, investigate and explore materials at school in an unconventional setting.
These STEM materials will help develop and strengthen my students scientific, mathematical and engineering skills; skills that are necessary for children to recognize, in order to naturally problem solve that are critical for their development and growth.
Combining these skills with literature used in the classroom will maximize the learning for our young students.
