Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing curious 6th graders. They are excited to observe the world around them and experience new things. They work hard to learn important concepts and they love to teach each other through creative presentations and projects.

Despite limited experiences with the language and academics, they work hard to become the best students that they can be.

We are a low income school with most of my students qualifying for free lunch. Many of them have limited experience beyond their living rooms and back yards but they become passionate scientists as their world opens up through science projects and STEM experiences.

My Project

The global pandemic has increased gaps in student learning and accented disparities in our students learning experiences and opportunities.

I need materials that I can use to differentiate their learning and to help me meet their individual needs in an engaging and effective way.

The hue cameras and playdoh can allow my students to create presentations and animations where they explain or explore their science concepts in a way that makes sense to them. This allows me to see what they know quickly and easily and to let them teach each other in an engaging and collaborative way.

It will also help me to show my hands during science instruction so that everyone has a clear view of the science demonstration or directions including students who are at home or watching the experiment later. The solar system models and black lights are other materials that I can use to engage all my students and get them moving as we explore the solar system and science topics of 6th grade. The gloves will help us to safely share materials for experiments and labs.
