My Project
Students in special education often struggle with abstract math concepts, making hands-on learning essential for their success. This project will provide my students with interactive counting games, addition and subtraction tactile supports, multiplication and division tactile games, and problem-solving materials to make math more engaging and accessible. These tools will offer multisensory learning experiences that help bridge the gap between abstract numbers and real-world applications.
The specific materials I’m requesting will make a significant impact by enhancing engagement, improving retention, and fostering independent problem-solving skills.
Interactive counting games will strengthen number recognition and sequencing in a fun, hands-on way. Addition and subtraction tactile supports will help students grasp basic operations through touch, improving fluency and accuracy. Multiplication and division tactile games will reinforce fact mastery and build a strong foundation for more advanced math concepts. Problem-solving materials will encourage critical thinking and real-world application, boosting confidence and logical reasoning.
The goal of this project is to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed in math. By incorporating these manipulatives, I aim to improve engagement, support differentiated instruction, and help students develop essential STEM skills.
What makes my students special is their determination and enthusiasm for learning, despite the challenges they face. They thrive when given hands-on, interactive learning opportunities tailored to their unique needs. With these materials, I can provide them with the support they need to develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in math, setting them up for future success in STEM.
