Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The TI-84 calculator is a powerful tool that helps students develop a deeper understanding of complex math concepts—such as algebra, geometry, and data analysis—by allowing them to explore, experiment, and visualize problems in real-time. It encourages critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence, which are essential for success in STEM fields.

These calculators will enable students to explore complex problems, visualize graphs, and analyze data more effectively.

My goal is to increase engagement by making math more interactive and accessible. They will help build foundational skills so students can apply to higher-level math and science courses. In addition, the calculators will foster curiosity about STEM careers by providing a tool that supports exploration and discovery while ensuring all students, regardless of their background, have access to the resources necessary to excel.

My students are resilient, ambitious, and eager to learn. Despite facing significant challenges—60% of my students are Hispanic and 40% are Black, all coming from high-poverty, Title I schools, they demonstrate a strong desire to succeed and break barriers. They deserve the same opportunities as students in more privileged schools, and with your support, we can provide them with the tools they need to reach their full potential.
