My students come in everyday with a curiosity to understand and make sense of the world around them. STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) allow students to engage in problem-solving and collaborative thinking. I want them to take this curiosity and learn how things work.
My pre-kindergarten class is a group of inquisitive minds.
We have been programming a little robot bee to get it to move around an obstacle course we have created with blocks. They love figuring out how to move it and ask questions about how things move all around them. Questions such as how does the bridge stay up? How does the pulley move up and down? How does a car move?
My Project
With the Lakeshore STEM bundle, students will be able to work individually and in small-groups to build structures that require problem-solving and collaboration.
With these materials, my students can have the opportunity to engage in higher intellectual thinking. Every educator wants their students to be prepared for the road ahead. I want to give my students every chance to practice skills that will follow them forever. These materials give my students the opportunity to work together to solve problems, an experience that may inspire them for years to come.
By providing the students with high-interest, hands-on STEM experiences I hope to harness their natural curiosity and creativity to foster a passion for learning and awareness of STEM fields that will lead to pursuing careers in fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Students will have enough sets to go around for each small group, as they start figuring out how simple machines work and create more complex ones.
