Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In the early years, children learn best through play. STEM education can sometime feel out of reach for younger students due to abstract concepts and limited age-appropriate tools. However, LEGO bricks provide a unique, developmentally appropriate way to introduce STEM ideas through construction, exploration, and storytelling.

LEGO bricks and the Brickit app are more than toys—they are tools to build brighter futures.

Early this year, I discovered "Brickit," an app that uses AI to scan scattered LEGO bricks and provides a list of suggestion on different creative builds. This digital tool allows our students to free play and explore, as well as offering both structure and creative freedom in allowing our students to manipulate and learn.

Using both the "Brickit" app and LEGO bricks, it will help foster digital literacy,

encourage problem solving and teamwork in a playful, low-pressure environment. Especially since majority of our students are currently living in an under-resourced community. With your help, we hope we can provide equitable access to STEM and enriching STEM learning tools to foster creativity and reinforce digital literacy. This can give our students the opportunity to share their builds and explain their thinking, reinforcing communication and confidence.

We hope that with your support, we can bring hands-on learning and digital innovation to young children, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of STEM. Thank you for your time!
