My Students

As newcomers to middle school life, seventh graders are learning to spread their analytical wings and fly into scientific discoveries. There is nothing more exciting than watching a group of preteens grow from boredom with school to becoming engrossed, engaged and excited about the world around them!

A lack of resources must not be an excuse to hindering a student's learning process.

After eighteen years of teaching in special education, I am making the switch to general education science. Many new resources are needed to equip my classroom. When their hands and minds are busy learning through STEM and STEAM lab experiences, this teacher's heart is full!

My Project

During STEM and STEAM lab experiences, my students must test, analyze, and record various data. They often need stop watches to time outcomes in various experiments. Currently, I only have access to six borrowed stop watches for an entire classroom of students. This creates a gap in the learning process as each student or group has to wait their turn to use the stop watch. Acquiring just one classroom set of stop watches will serve over one hundred students that rotate through my science classroom each day. Have my own classroom set of stop watches will allow the students to continue working without breaks in their experiments.
