This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my school are Kindergarteners to 5th Graders. These students are inquisitive, creative, and eager to learn. About 1/3 of our school qualifies for free and reduced lunch. They search for knowledge and enjoy learning in hands on settings. Our STEM Lab and Makerspace fosters their curiosity and builds on their strengths.
My Project
Our Makerspace and STEM lab is utilized by our entire school to learn and grow. These books will foster curiosity and creative thinking, allowing the students to read and learn from the texts. Teachers are able to bring their students to the STEM Lab to learn about careers in STEM, build structures, problem solve, create and so much more.
The addition of these books in our STEM Makerspace add an element of literature to a hands on space that allows for a safe and creative experience.
Giving the gift of knowledge and power, children can research and learn about topics that interest them. Our district has many opportunities for STEM exploration at older levels; but I believe fostering that spark in elementary is just as important.
