Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Basic scientific skills and knowledge have decreased in students today especially with the limitations of the pandemic and post pandemic. Teachers are now tasked with ensuring students catch-up on the skills and knowledge missed during the constraints of the past years. Students have been unable to work as a group or share materials in past school years. This project reinforces my beliefs that if we hook students in science related concepts, we can attract more students to the field of STEM. Students will use hands-on and student-driven ideas to engage in unique and exciting opportunities to explore and learn. The students’ projects can give them a look into careers, technology, and inspiration to create their science journals and further their dreams of science careers.

My grant is looking to acquire basic scientific materials and incentives to do a variety of hands-on experiments and projects that are student driven in nature.

Students will be able to investigate a variety of science concepts and journal a record of their intriguing discoveries. Many students create projects for science fairs or competitions and need to have colorful displays. The color printer will be used to allow our students to compete with well-rounded, colorful displays. Other materials, like the spinners and comic book blank, will be used by the students to create materials like games and books. These will be used as teaching tools for other students. Project incentives like stress balls and putty are used as rewards when accomplishing a project. Please consider donating toward our new grant and allow students to STEM Like A Real Scientist.
