Help me give my students mirrors, ladybug land, root garden, sand, molding dough, scented markers, and dominoes to complete our STEM experiments throughout the year.
My students love to learn and are eager to use all the resources we have to continue to learn new things. They are full of energy and possess positive, loving attitudes towards their teachers and school. They would love to have more opportunities to research topics and find interesting facts through technology.
Nearly 60% of our students receive free and reduced-price lunch.
We have a large number of students that receive backpack food sent home every weekend. We have a large number of students with limited home involvement and from poor incomes. Our schools have limited resources for our students that truly need more services than we can currently provide. Despite the many hardships our students are eager to learn.
My Project
My class will be learning about how light travels and reflections in mirrors. We will be using the Ladybug Land to help us learn about the lifecycles of animals. Dominoes make great tools to discuss cause and effect, kinetic energy, and motion as well as measurement. My students will learn about plant parts by growing their own garden and will be able to see the roots in the Root Garden. We will use the sand to distinguish the difference between sand and soil when we learn about Earth's materials. We will use the molding dough to create towers, landforms, and clay boats for water displacement. The scented markers will be used for chromatography experiments.
