This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.

I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.

My scholars are eager to learn, excel and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for eighteen years and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.

My Project

The school library will use the Cricut and vinyl to make T-shirts and stickers. We are implementing a makerspace to give scholars the opportunity to design, create and make. The Cricut will teach STEM skills as it is an advanced piece of equipment that also allows users to design their own work. Patterns, templates and forms can be sent from a computer or done graphically.

This project will first have scholars make T-shirts to build community and cohesiveness.

Then they will be able to make their own designs, products and learn to connect bluetootth to utilize additional advanced features.
