My students need S.T.E.M materials that include Science learning labs and Math center materials that include ten-frames, fraction manipulatives, activities and educational games.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My two classes are full of eager and inquisitive 3rd graders who are constantly ready to attain fresh information and learn something new. My 3rd grade students are always full of questions, wanting to know the way everything around them works. Their curiosity is invigorating and refreshing, and is contagious among our classroom community. What makes my students even more spectacular is that they are part of a dual language program where they acquire a second language, English for the Spanish speakers and Spanish for the Spanish speakers. The students get to practice skills in an environment that requires them to get their "creative juices" flowing!
My Project
My students will use the Lakeshore STEM bundle to observe and complete hands-on experiments and exploration, as well as it providing an opportunity to create and test their hypothesis' and conclusions with the kit investigations. The STEM Lakeshore bundle will also challenge the students to plan, build and test the science behind the way things work and form all around them and the real world.
"Involve me and I will learn", crucial to Math and Science education is hands-on involvement.
The Math center bundle will allow this hands-on involvement by having students fully engaged during differentiated instruction. The students will use the Math center bundle in a rotation through out the school year to apply common core and STEM activities taught during our whole group instruction.
My students will also benefit from having good organization in their STEM stations with a much needed functional storage system. The bins will come in handy for all of their Science materials and Math manipulatives.
