My students need engaging and hands-on lessons to do in the garden. The paper-pot makers, in particular, will help us re-use newspapers instead of throwing them away. The stepping stones will look beautiful in our garden.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in a low social-economic area. Our students are curious, smart, and funny. Many are second language learners. They are at a disadvantage because, often times, they have few opportunities to learn outdoor and to learn how to be stewards of our planet. One way to mitigate this disadvantage is to provide rich learning opportunities in school.
We are working hard to become a green school!
Our students are excited about all the learning and hands-on opportunities they will experience.
My Project
These materials will help grow our school garden program. We recently made 4 raised beds and 4 hydroponic towers. We have cabbage, tomatoes, peppers and lettuce planted in the raised beds and strawberries planted in the towers.
We need to have lessons and hands-on activities to do with the students in order to bring the learning outdoor.
We are planning on having an outdoor learning lab and the items in this grant will be added to the lab.
Our students love working outside. They also enjoy observing the wildlife that has started coming into our schoolyard. These books, pots, and kits will help us give more structure to out outdoor explorations.
