STEM in Kindergarten

Help me give my students STEM materials to use each day. My students are so engaged in the STEM activities and I am able to work with students individually and in small groups on reading and math skills.

My Students

I teach two half-day sessions of kindergarten, which means I will have a total of 44-52 students. I love teaching these eager and energetic kids! I'm excited to begin to introduce more S.T.E.M. and S.T.E.A.M. activities in my classroom.

Every year I have students who speak other languages, come to school unprepared, and students who are right where they should be academically or above grade level.

It is a real challenge to make sure all the students are making progress and mastering all of the needed concepts.

Our school focuses on the mastery of literacy, mastery of skills, and the arts.

My Project

This year is a unique year. We are seeing many students that did not attend a traditional preschool for age 3 and age 4 of their lives. Nearly all were thrown into an online word, with virtual teachers and other visual stimulus. The tactile and kinesthetic learners have not been stimulated. All students are in need of fine motor skills and practice.

Many, if not most, students missed out on the hands on activities during preschool due to COVID protocols and this project will supply my classroom with fine motor activities and STEM activities that students need to succeed.

I have so many occupational therapy referrals this year! I need to support my students in a new way and provide fine motor and STEM activities for use.
