Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are brilliant, creative thinkers who come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives into our STEM classroom. Many are English Language Learners, first-generation students, or from underrepresented groups in science and engineering. Despite challenges, they show up every day ready to innovate, problem-solve, and grow.

This project supports both the physical and emotional environment of our STEM classroom.

A compact vacuum cleaner will help us keep our space clean, dignified, and welcoming after messy hands-on projects. Bulletin board decorations and supplies will allow us to proudly showcase student work, cultural identity posters, and diverse STEM heroes—making sure every student feels seen and celebrated. Button-making supplies will give students a voice—letting them design and wear their identity with pride (e.g., “Future Latina Engineer,” “Black Inventors Matter,” “STEM is for Everyone”). Club t-shirts will foster community and pride in our STEM and culture-based clubs, making students feel like they belong and their interests matter.

These materials will help us create a safe, inclusive classroom where every student knows: STEM starts with YOU. My goal for this project is to build identity and representation through creative expression, maintain a safe and organized environment for all learners, and celebrate diversity in science and culture through displays

Representation matters—and in a Title I school, that means creating space for students to see themselves in STEM and take pride in their journey. These materials do more than decorate; they affirm, empower, and inspire.
