Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Before walking into my class, each of my students makes eye contact with me, smiles and says, "Hello, Ms. Y. I am (insert positive word or feeling word)." My goal for each of them is for them to say, "Hello, Ms. Y. I am a future (insert science/computer/math career here).
My high risk, low income students are the joy and laughter of my soul.
They constantly inspire me with their resilience, passion for learning, and drive to become successful, productive members of the world stage. By focusing on a growth mentality, these future adults are a class of active learners who know that with consistent hard work, they can overcome their beginnings; thus changing the world for themselves, their families and following generations.
My Project
Chromebooks are the gateway to internet resources, computer skills and programming. More precisely, Chromebooks will give my students access to the latest news impacting the environment, follow prominent scientists on their current expeditions and enter into online chats with these role models.
Through Life Science, Marine Science and Health classes together with Chromebooks and Google Docs, my students will be able to collaborate, collect, share and analyze data while creating intriguing presentations.
Students will create e-portfolios, allowing families to monitor student progress online, while facilitating student-led conferences. Finally, my students will learn how to code, introducing them to a 21st century skill and possible career path.
