Help me give my students 3 Coding with Awbie OSMO kits and a LEGO WeDo Robotics Kit so our after school third grade STEM Girls Club can learn block programming!
I want to help our third grade girls get experience with block programming, so I have started an after school third grade STEM Girls Club. I want the girls in this club to feel safe as they explore LEGO WeDo Robotics and Coding with Awbie through the OSMO system.
The girls in our after school club have fun growing, thinking, and trying our their programming ideas with robotics and the OSMO system.
I teach third grade at a wonderful, small multicultural school located in Los Angeles. Many of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and everyone receives free breakfast.
Our school specializes in integrating art and technology with our academic subjects. By having an after school STEM club just for third grade girls, I am helping to inspire the next generation of female programmers.
My Project
If you saw the Awbie OSMO Coding Kit in action, you would know why the third grade students in my classroom love using it. They love Awbie, a character that needs the students' help to walk, hop, and jump to get to new locations. The students have to program Awbie by using special blocks that help Awbie move forward or jump. We have iPads in our classroom so every girl in our after school third grade STEM Girls Club can pair up to work with the OSMO Coding Kits I have requested, but we need three additional coding kits.
Our after school third grade STEM Girls Club will also be working on building robots and coding them with the nine LEGO WeDo Robotics kits we currently have in my classroom.
Unfortunately, we are missing some essential pieces, so having one additional LEGO WeDo Robotics kit that we can use for replacement parts is essential.
Please help our after school third grade STEM Girls Club take programming to a new level by donating to our project. Both of these block coding activities make programming fun and exciting. With your help, our girls club will rock with STEM knowledge!
