This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember being in science class and all you had was text, no hands-on science experiments? This is happening in many of our classrooms. My students need the hands-on experience, real experiments, and visual aids to make science meaningful. They need to think out of the box.
My students are 100% Hispanic.
Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations, like lack of food, that others take for granted. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations.
In my classroom, they get to dream; the sky is the limit. They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have become celebrated community heroes. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They would thrive as enthusiastic learners if they are provided with the memories that will last a lifetime. They will experience and recollect their memories in a whole new way.
My Project
Recently there has been a push to teach robotics in the upper grades in elementary schools. Many would agree that teachers need to teach physical science basics before they teach complex topics. However, hands-on material makes teaching complex topics like robotics fun and easy to comprehend. I know that my students will be better students and will be able to comprehend science more after they are exposed to the requested hands-on science supplies.
I have requested K'NEX Bridges and a set of K'NEX Intermediate Math and Geometry Sets. I can assure you that my students will enhance their learning because these supplies will be innovative, engaging, and motivating. My students will have kits that will teach them exciting, hands-on lessons in engineering. The kits have components that combine with each other to create working bridges just like the ones found and designed by engineers. The kits will teach my students how to build and create bridges, laying the foundation to be engineers.
I know that my students will love science and will be able to comprehend science more after they are exposed to the requested supplies.
I can assure you that my students will enhance their learning because these supplies will be engaging and motivating. My students will have resources that teach about renewable energy. I will make sure that these supplies are used to their fullest for many years to come. Thus, your generosity will help them make the magic of learning science come to life.
