My Students

My classroom is full of amazing 1st grade students who want to learn. These kiddos come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and are embarking on a new year. Our Title I school fosters the growth and education of families from a low socioeconomic status, including almost 50% refugees. They deserve access to these amazing learning tools and are beyond grateful for everything they are given. Please help me make this year one for the books.

My Project

These awesome materials will help my students learn through exploration. By building marble races the students will work with different angles, learn about speed and gravity, and see how changing different variables on the mazes causes different solutions. They will love coding robots to move! After weeks of practicing coding on paper they will be excited to put their practice to use! Of course using new math manipulatives will allow them to engage in learning in a whole new way! I would love them to be able to use these materials to spark an interest in them for the future creating future scientists and mathematicians. The Scholastic Magazines help them learn important information in a new and fun way that is engaging. Covering a wide range of 1st grade standards, students will be able to follow along in their magazines as we watch and learn about new information! Through code.org my students have begun learning to code and I know they would love to try it on a real robot. Whiteboards allow for daily math practice of fast facts, number bonds and number talks!Thank you for helping to inspire a love of learning within my students.
