Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students need hands-on activities now more than ever. This year opened my eyes to lack of exposure kids have to games and building materials like blocks. These items can be rotated in and out of centers to help students develop a well-rounded education.
Hands-on learning engages both sides of the brain, creating lasting understanding of content.
In the past, the academic goals were rote memorization. Today, the objectives are built around reasoning, strategy, and a growth mindset. Creative exploring helps foster these skills in all students, but especially young ones.
In addition, these activities keep students engaged and focused, building endurance.
This year, I have heard more academic conversations than ever before. I am excited to encourage these discussions in the years to come!
