This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with English Learners and Newcomers. We spend most of our time together learning academic language through curriculum and test prep projects. They are very sweet and eager learners. I have been trying to find a fun way to bring their English language development into practice and have recently learned about their love for STEM.
Every Friday is Fun Friday in my classroom.
Students choose something to play with and practice using their English to talk and work together. I offer mystery art, legos, color by number using math facts, reading games, and snap circuits. Recently, more students are becoming more fascinated with the snap circuit center, but I only have one.
Not only do my students love to play with them, snap circuits offer amble opportunities for my English learners to practice English in a fun, hands-on, engaging way, and I want to continue to encourage that.
