Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Last year as we undertook a new program in spring, we learned how much our students benefited from the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) program. Not only was it educational, fostered creativity and imagination, but also focused on team-building exercises, and encouraging our students to take on leadership roles.
This year, we hope to get an early start on our STEM program with our students (some who have learning disabilities).
The best part about STEM is how much it helps with differentiating students' needs. Most of the materials that we requested will help us create packets where students can jot down notes, and their findings, their exploration through the process, as well as ideas, and even planning. We hope to also use some basic arts and craft materials in some engineering projects that will allow students to build structures and test out their models.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
