Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an amazing and eclectic bunch. They attend a Title I school in Mesa, Arizona. These students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. They are white, Hispanic, Native American, African American, and Pacific Islanders. Our STEM program is the vital to their success. It gives my students access to technology and activities they would not otherwise experience.
I am finding new and creative ways to teach engineering concepts to my students, but getting the materials can be a challenge.
Every day is a new discovery and a new success story. These students love to experiment with their newfound skills.
My Project
I am hoping to obtain materials to help my students participate in hands-on STEM activities in the classroom. Many times we have great ideas that we don't have materials for. With your help, we can enhance student learning.
My students need the opportunity to do hands-on STEM activities with the materials I am requesting.
Many times we do not have the budget for additional quality materials needed to participate in fun and exciting activities. They will love the inquiry process involved in the lessons using the STEM materials.
The electric circuit kits are a great way to introduce basic electricity to junior high students. They are a safe and easy way to show the children how electrons flow to create electricity. When I did this activity in a teacher workshop this summer, I knew I had to find a way to get these materials for my students.
