My Students
My students are the definition of resilience and Houston Strong. The majority of my students are at-risk and economically disadvantaged youth, yet these labels do not stop my students from chasing and achieving their goals. Many of my students come from single-parent homes and will be the first in their family to receive a high school diploma. The students within my classroom can be productive and successful citizens of the United States with a little help and guidance.
My students are smart, intuitive, and very eager to learn in a variety of ways.
Our middle school is composed of students with a thirst for learning and eagerness to become productive citizens.
My Project
My students will be able to participate in IF/THEN's winning project " Women in STEM Exploration, Innovation & Communication through video production" with a iPad Pro. For example, my students will learn about different careers in STEM by watching Jessica Camp and Kristen Lear's video on the IF/THEN website. Not only will they watch the IF/THEN videos but students will also be able to use the iPad Pro to conduct their own research of other women in STEM. After conducting research on various women in STEM students will use the iPad Pro to record a video presentation of their research. After recording their individual presentations students will able to use the iPad Pro and the iMovie app to design, edit, and create their own movie to share what they have learned about women in STEM. Students will also be able to do multiple science simulations on this computer as well as online dissections as well as be able to do scientific research. The iPad Pro will enable students to find the area of science they want to pursue in the future.
