Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year is the fifth year our school offers STEM as a class and students are always excited to design, build, collaborate and create things. I teach in a low-income Chicago school with almost 100% Hispanic population. I have been teaching at my school for eight years.
My students are very excited about anything that we learn.
Whenever we learn new content or review things we have covered, they are so creative and think of amazing new inventions. I see about 700 students every week and all of them are so innovative and just eager to learn and do new things.
My Project
Students across all grade levels in my school have been learning how to program for a few years now. It is an essential skill that helps students problem solve, collaborate, think on the spot, engage with others and get ready for future jobs.
Students would love to see their programmed code come to life, and these amazing Osmos can do just that.
I would love for my students to experience how the code they create themselves can actually make something move. It is an incredible technology that is so accessible for our students and can become a future for so many.
