Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a lovely bunch of 4th and 5th graders who love to learn with all of their senses. In spite of their intellectual disability, they exhibit positivity, determination, enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. They are excited with what each and every school day brings. I couldn't forget their faces when school reopened after being locked down at home for the most part of the previous school year. After two weeks of school, the excitement hasn't worn off and is still going strong. They bid their farewells and goodbyes to each other as they trek their way towards home and school buses. These scenarios made me realize how enjoyable the teaching profession is and I thank my students for that.
My Project
Each student will get a set of LEGO gadgets on their own. They would be responsible to keep it intact and not lose any pieces. While getting familiar to the 11 machines that they are suppose to build, they will be able to carry it in their backpacks to and from home. Family members can help assist in building the machines at home thereby also having the materials for quality family time. I I haven't seen any child that doesn't like LEGO bricks. LEGO Gadgets will nurture their love for learning and be scientific engineers to solve problems and be constructive.
Students love to learn and build.
They are by nature fun loving, engaging and nurturing. I am so glad that I'm a teacher and is a part of cultivating these young minds.
