My Project

S.T.E.M is the future and I want my scholars to be able to thrive and think critically! Every year, I conduct activities that surround classroom norms (rules). This is typically successful because my students have a love for learning, and they are very hands-on.

This year, I want to be able to teach my students those norms, while also teaching them S.T.E.M and how to think critically.

I am requesting Ziplock bags, spoons, and cotton balls to conduct an egg drop. I am requesting rubber bands and popsicle sticks, so my students can build a popsicle catapult. I am also requesting a roller coaster kit so that my students can build their own roller coasters. These projects will allow my students to understand our classroom norms and to understand that scholars are expected to critically think in ELA.

My goal is for my scholars to be able to problem-solve and think outside of the box. I also want to help my scholars take charge of their education and understand the different things or concepts they could learn at school. Furthermore, these projects will allow students to think about future career opportunities as engineers. Additionally, I have also added a book for my ENL students, so that they could continue to work on their English during ELA and so that they can feel successful when they leave.

In all, I believe that this project will allow my students to have a transformative experience in the ELA classroom.
