My students need hands STEM activities as part of our Math Stations. The Design & Build Engineering Centers, Create a Chain Reaction and Learn to Code File Games will allow my students to build and explore.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach second grade, at a small neighborhood school in Texas. My class consist of a wide range of academic levels (Special Needs to GT). The majority of my students are on free and reduced lunch. They are provided breakfast everyday with the help from a Federal program. Most of my students come from households with only one income where they struggle to make ends meet. Or are homeless and multi families are living together in one house.
My students deserve the best opportunities possible.
With the help of Donor's Choose, I am hoping to provide them with engaging hands-on activities and ways to make the activities accessible to all.
My Project
These new STEM centers will provide a new and engaging center for our Math Rotation time. With Design & Build Engineering Centers they will be able to build bridges, vehicles, and houses. The Create-A-Chain Reaction STEM kit will reinforce the skills of gravity, force, and motion. The coding file games will provide an introduction to the technology aspect of coding and they are differentiated into different levels. Allowing them to develop a deeper understanding into how coding works.
Boys and girls both need to the opportunity to explore and engineer on their own.
They will be able to develop design processes and problem solving with student lead activities.
