My Students

Here at FRMS, we serve a diverse group of 6th -8th-grade students as we are uniquely positioned south of Hartsfield Jackson Airport. We are a Title I school and 45% of our kids are on Free or Reduced Lunch. We created a STEM program a couple years ago because we wanted to create unique connections for our students to be exposed to projects, careers and educational opportunities they otherwise wouldn't be exposed to. Our STEM program consists of 50-60 students in each grade-level that have expressed a high-level of interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

My Project

Our STEM students complain that our school library doesn't have any interesting books. I'd like to change that by ordering a diverse amount of STEM-related books that are challenging but also engaging enough for them to read inside and outside of the classroom. The books in this list reflect a variety of interests such as Science & Medicine, Science & Technology, Science & the Frontier, Science & War, and Miscellaneous topics as well.

Middle-school is a GREAT age to keep students excited about reading so we want to continue cultivating that excitement by exposing them to literature that related to their interests!!
