STEM Book Club for Boys, Part 2

Help me give my students sets of books for a STEM book club, a LEGO BricQ Motion Set, an earthquake engineering kit, batteries, and a Stretcheez hamburger.

My Project

I'm a small group reading intervention teacher in Red Hook, Brooklyn. My school is a Title I school and over 95% of its students receive free lunch.

The neighborhood my school is located in contains one of New York City's largest public housing developments, and most of my students reside there.

Due to the geographic location of the neighborhood, there are few trains and bus routes servicing the community, so my students are very isolated from all of the bells and whistles of New York City.

I recently started a STEM-themed book club with a group of third-grade boys and have learned all about their interests. The problem is that I don't have book sets to support their interests for this book club--that's where you come in! While I have some copies of high-interest, STEM-themed books in my classroom library from previous Donors Choose projects, there is simply not a big enough selection. We need a few sets of STEM books to take our book club to the next level!

In addition, I am requesting a LEGO BricQ Motion kit and various resources (like batteries, an earthquake simulator, and an energy stick kit) we can use to complement our STEM projects at the end of each book. My students will use these materials to learn about forces, motion, simple circuits, and electricity.

These various STEM books and materials will make our book club a success. Thank you for your generosity!
