My Students
My school is a low-income, urban school in Baltimore City. I have an amazing group of 1st-grade students who are working daily to be independent learners. These students are given the chance to build critical literacy, math, and social-emotional skills in an early childhood center environment.
My classroom is a space where all students come to explore, learn, create, and grow.
I want to instill independence by giving students opportunities to work closely with each other and form learning spaces. I work to meet the needs of all my students and give them learning opportunities that fit their learning styles and needs.
My Project
Students will utilize these STEM bins daily each morning and/or afternoon. They will use them in small groups, independently or with a partner. There will designated times of the day for STEM learning as well as other free time that students can use the bins.
They will get the chance to explore, problem solve, think critically and work together to build skills and knowledge in each bin!
My students will be challenged to communicate with each other and solve the problems together. We will build skills like asking questions, making hypotheses, working together, finding multiple solutions, and more.
