This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The air purifier will allow our students to work in a safe environment as they discover how laser engravers are integrated with geometry. Our laser engraver creates an amount of unsafe smoke. This smoke makes it almost impossible to use in the classroom as it is not recommended for students with asthma and could set off the fire alarm.
Our goal is to have Project Based Learning alongside Problem Based Learning to engage students in solving questions that include basic ideas with geometric terms such as angles and parallel lines to more complex drawings that transform figures with geometry software, tracing, or graphing paper to create a tactile structure with the laser engraver.
Students will make a connection with our multimedia lessons while applying a design that can be engraved onto solid materials (thin wood or acrylic). These geometrical shapes can be observed and identified by students in their original form or be glued to make a three dimensional object for further inquiry.
