My students need 3-D Collage materials, fabric mosaic pieces, and other open ended art materials.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gegeyan's classroom raised $365

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Stem education starts in Early Childhood (Preschool).
The inclusion of the ARTS component into STEM will help my students learn in a fun and more approachable way.
I want my students to be engaged in learning in more than one way and help them hold their attention and use their critical thinking to create. These open-ended materials will help them connect to real life, such as creating an interface design, advertising, product design, usability, creation of brands, and all things are crucial to STEM learning and careers to become 21st century citizens.
My Project
Why the A in STEAM is Just As Important?
Every engineer who comes up with a new innovation practices far more than math, engineering, and technological prowess.
They also use design-thinking, creativity, communication, and artistic skills to bring those innovations to life. In my classroom, we work very hard to have open-ended art materials and opportunities to use them every single day.
My students will choose the materials I have requested to learn how to use them and what they will make. These materials will also help my students with the process of creating rather than focusing on the finished product. as you see around you, today's innovators are creative, work collaboratively in open workspaces, sharing ideas globally with other thinkers, and combining their STEM powers with some STEAM talents. I am requesting these materials so that my students will be able to do the same. They will be learning to work together in groups, sharing ideas and materials, they will use their imagination and creativity, and find solutions of how each material might possibly be designed.
Lastly, these materials will allow children to use their imagination and creativity. For example with th fabric mosaics I imagine my students creating elaborate clothes, by using the Pom-poms, and the 3D collage boxes for our clothing study. They will also be giving the opportunity to create more 3D pieces using the air dry clay and wooden craft pieces to make buildings, signs, or objects within their environment. These materials will help them help develop trial and error and problem-solving skills. They won't have no fear of doing it wrong since there is no right method or outcome. It will give them a sense of freedom and self-confidence.
