STEM Activities for Incredible Gifted Students

My Project

As a Gifted Specialist, my responsibilities are to advocate for gifted students on campus and teach/service students from kindergarten to 6th grade. I also support class differentiation while the students are not with me, provide teachers with resources and professional development, test new students, and provide parent/community education on gifted education/resources. This year I service 65 identified gifted learners as well as provided enrichment for a few others that are high achievers. The resources will benefit about 100 students. Covid has provided many challenges with limited face-to-face interactions and peer work. These incredible resources would allow for much-needed team building and peer-to-peer interaction that were displaced during Covid. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work with their peers when they are provided with hands-on STEM development in addition to academic instruction. STEM development is critical for these gifted exceptional learners who need to constantly be engaged and challenged, that need to think critically and solve problems, and to interact with like-minded peers with authentic resources.
