Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will be transitioning from a general education classroom to being the STEM teacher for a K-8 school. Offering STEM to K-6 is new for this next school year. There are no supplies for STEM projects school-wide. The supplies I have listed (markers, Ziploc bags, aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and more) will allow the classroom to be stocked for the school year full of STEM projects. Using a variety of the listed crafting supplies students will be able to add their own level of creativity beyond the STEM design challenge posed to them.

I would like to provide my students with many opportunities to expand their thought processes and work through the engineering design process with the use of these supplies.

Using the materials on my list there will be endless opportunities in my STEM classroom as well as the school makerspace available to all teachers all day. In these activities, students will take everyday items with an already intended purpose and create a new purpose for them to solve a real-world problem or solve a problem a story character is having.
