My Project
My students are curious, hands-on learners who thrive when science becomes something they can touch, see, and build. In our classroom, discovery is not just about reading from a textbook; it’s about exploring the natural world and understanding how things work.
With your help, I hope to provide them with two powerful experiences: owl pellet dissections and DC motor kits.
These resources will allow students to dive into both life and physical sciences in ways that are meaningful and engaging.
With owl pellets, students will become nature detectives, carefully dissecting and analyzing what an owl has eaten to reconstruct skeletons and understand food chains and ecosystems. It brings biology alive in a way that’s messy, fascinating, and unforgettable. I incorporate this to my evolution lesson and my students pretend to be paleontologists.
With DC motors and simple circuitry materials, students will shift gears to become young engineers, learning the basics of electricity and motion as they design their own spinning, buzzing, moving creations. It’s a perfect introduction to how machines work and fosters early interest in engineering and problem-solving.
Both activities support NGSS-aligned science standards and promote critical thinking, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning. Your donation will make it possible for my students to experience the wonder of science, from the inside of an owl to the spark that powers a motor.
