My Students

I teach Gifted and Talented enrichment classes for four different schools, in the grades first through fifth. Some of my students are non-English speakers, but their love for learning is apparent. My classes consist of learners from various socioeconomic statuses. Most of my students are diverse learners who are very excited about their enrichment class, where we can do hands-on activities in addition to the monotone intervention and repetition that usually has to take place in the regular classrooms. This is usually the only time where they are allowed to be creative, think outside the box and develop their talents.

My students do not always come from homes where they are told that their futures are bright and they can become anything they choose.

It is my mission to educate them about all the possibilities that await them and to nurture their talents.

My Project

The Force and Motion Activity tub will allow my students to use creative thinking when they plan, design, build, test, and evaluate their solutions to problems. The students will also discover scientific truths such as, pushes and pulls can have different strengths and directions, and pushing or pulling on an object can change the speed or direction of its motion, and can start or stop it. They will also use math skills such as measurement, when they measure the distance the objects travel, as well as collecting, recording, and sharing observations from the data they collect during the STEM challenges.

The education in American schools seems to be a black hole that is sapping the interest of young people, particularly young women, when it comes to the sciences.

Students deserve a hands-on approach where they can experience science, technology, engineering and math, themselves.

The Simple Machines Activity tub will help my students build competencies valuable for today’s world, such as problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity/innovation, which are explicitly taught and assessed.

We need STEM-related talent to compete globally. My job is to educate students to fill these positions, and your donation will help in making this a reality. Help me educate to innovate.
