Help me give my students BBC Micro:bits that they can use to continue to learn about coding and work collaboratively to create authentic, functional products!
I teach computers to a diverse group of fifth grade elementary school students who are developing a love of learning to code! They are intrinsically motivated by technology and have come to understand the basics of code through the use of online programs. They are learning important skills such as computational thinking, problem-solving, self-expression, and collaboration.
Help me to further engage my students as they begin to see their programs come to life using BBC Micro:bits!
They will use these pocket sized-computers to understand how software and hardware work together. Working in collaborative partnerships in our computer lab, they will write code to engineer projects such as digital step counters, thermometers, light and sound sensors, compasses, and alarms. They will also explore the UN's Global Goals as they develop real-world solutions to global issues using technology!
