Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has a population of 400 students. We are a Title I school with more than 51% of students on free and reduced price lunch. Most importantly, we are a family with diverse needs and interests.

The STEAM lab is used by all grades from Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade.

In the lab, I want to provide an environment where all students, regardless of ability, language level, or need, can create and explore the concepts we discuss in class and those things that interest them in their world. Providing equipment and materials that encourage students to be engaged with the curriculum and develop a better understanding of engineering processes, problem solving, and critical thinking are important in their developmental growth. The use of the color printer, for example, allows me to provide the color-labeled instructions that help the younger, non-reader, and English language learner to more easily understand our coding curriculum. The storage and supplies encourage students to be hands-on while moving towards understanding of concepts and enhancing their creativity.
