My Students

I teach 5th grade ELA and Science at a STEM Academy in Georgia. I teach a wide range of students from EIP to Gifted but all my students are very talented in their own ways. We strive to do as much learning through STEM/STEAM activities as possible and my students love using problem-solving strategies and hands-on lessons. We also try to integrate our curriculum as much as possible so in my room we teach many reading skills through the science material to help reinforce both subjects.

I'm always on the lookout for creative and beneficial ways to meet my students' needs.

Many of my students come from low-income communities and were accepted to my school based on academic performance. They have a passion for learning but lack the resources they need to be successful. Help me help my students to reach their full potential!

My Project

At my school, we pride ourselves on our STEAM integration and using technology to enhance student learning. One thing my students always seem to need is headphones! They're easily lost or broken and many of their personal sets don't get replaced at home. We use computers a lot in class and students are always watching videos, having spare headphones in the classroom will help eliminate distractions while students are working.

Furthermore, in 5th grade we make A LOT of videos!

The chromebooks are useful because they have a build in camera, however it isn't always the best quality or most convenient. Having some tablets in the room will help my students create exciting, higher-quality videos to display all that they have learned.
