This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students live in Logan Heights near beautiful Chicano Park. 96% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch at Burbank. 67% of our students are English Learners. Our students are inquisitive, excited about STEAM, and can't wait to build and explore. I love seeing them light up when they get to do STEAM projects.

My Project

STEAM encompasses many things, but it's really a way of thinking that uses creativity, problem-solving skills, logic and invention. My project will supply my students with well organized supplies and materials that they can access on their own. This will allow them to lead a student driven approach to learning with less guidance from the teacher and more exploration and investigation on their own.

The bins and containers will hold STEAM kits, origami kits, and Art supplies.

Having them easily accessible and portable allows the students to grab what they want to work on without the teacher having to interrupt the process to find the supplies. The Art supplies will be a creative addition to their STEAM projects such as adding tissue paper to the roofs after designing cardboard buildings or creating foam block spaceships with pom-pom afterburners.
