STEAM: Students Use Technology To Bring Their Art To Life
My students need a 3D printer and filament to create sculptures of monsters they will design on paper.

My Students
My South Carolina elementary students crave the opportunity to explore new things, create, and use technology. While I cannot provide those opportunities at home, I want to provide a classroom environment that fosters creativity, problem solving skills, and exploration of technology and computer science.
Most of my students, 87%, come from low income/poverty level, single family homes, and many do not get the opportunities to use the latest technologies at home.
I want to help compensate for those lost opportunities.
My Project
I am asking for a YZprinting da Vinci JR. 3D Printer and spools of extra Filament. With the materials from this project, my students will see first hand how visual arts, science, and technology can be used together for the first time in our classroom. The students will be in control of their own creations.
My students will utilize science and technology to make their 2D artwork come to life, in a 3D sculpture.
Students will design their own creature by merging two or more animal features in a tempera painting. They will use the painting to program the 3D printer to make their creature. Students will also get to see how technology plays a major role in the manufacturing process of consumer products.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
